As a Counsellor, my desire is to help you move through the struggle to experience fulfillment, satisfaction and enjoyment in life. I have spent almost two decades helping people find solutions to the problems that are dragging them down. I am a willing and attentive listener. One of my strengths is empathy, the ability to identify with the pain and frustration you are experiencing. I offer a safe space where together we can identify the problem areas and learn the skills necessary to begin the process of real and last change.
While I have worked with many different age groups, individuals, couples and families; much of my experience includes many years of working with Teens and Young Adults struggling with a variety of issues including: Anxiety, Depression, Suicidal Ideation, Trauma and much more. I have a passion for helping young people overcome their difficulties and focus on building a hopeful and fulfilling future.
I graduated from Tyndale University College in 2005 with a Bachelors in Religious Education with a focus on Adolescent Development and most recently completed a Masters of Divinity in Clinical Counseling in 2016. I spent a full year as an Intern/Volunteer Counsellor at Lutherwood Family Counselling Clinic in Cambridge in 2015-2016. While there I gained experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy and Family Systems Theory. Through my work as a Child & Youth Worker I have been trained in Suicide Prevention & Intervention, Prevention & Management of Aggressive Behaviour and Red Cross First Aid.
