Having spent almost 20 years working with Teens and Young Adults I understand how chaotic these formative years can be. Teens are typically not very trusting of adults so my approach over the years has been to present myself in a laid-back manner and show genuine interest in what they are interested in. I have found that this approach speeds up the process of building rapport and establishing trust. Teens need to know that you have their best interest at heart and are more willing to open up to someone who genuinely cares about them. I care, I wouldn’t have spent this long working with teens in various capacities if I didn’t. Teens can be difficult to work with but I enjoy the challenge and love to witness that moment when they suddenly “get it”. If you are a parent of teen or young adult who is struggling with any issue from mood disorders to addictions to failure to launch, I am here to support you but most importantly, I am here to listen to your teen, help them overcome the crisis and move towards a future of hope and fulfillment.
